Renew Your California Registration Without the DMV

Xpress Registrations renews California vehicle registrations online as a licensed DMV business partner. You upload a photo of your renewal notice or current registration card, we pull your exact DMV total (including any late penalties) and send one invoice, and after payment we process the renewal the same business day. Your new sticker and registration card go out by tracked USPS Priority Mail or are held for pickup. Expired registrations, smog holds, and insurance flags are handled the same way.

Common questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, ask us.

Can I renew my California registration online if it is expired?

Yes. We process expired renewals every week. The DMV adds late penalties based on how late you are, and we show the exact amount on your invoice before you pay anything.

What do I need to send to renew?

A photo of your renewal notice, or your registration card from the last three years if you never got the notice. If the notice lists insurance or smog as required, include those. That is usually it.

Do I need a smog check to renew?

Only if your renewal notice says smog is required. Most gasoline vehicles need it every other year once they are more than eight model years old; electric vehicles are exempt.

How much does it cost to renew through Xpress Registrations?

Your DMV fees at cost (the same amount the DMV charges) plus our flat service fee shown on this page, plus delivery if you choose tracked mail. Everything is itemized on the invoice before you pay.

How long does it take to get my sticker?

We process the same business day payment arrives. USPS Priority delivers in 1-3 business days with tracking; pickup is available the same day it is processed.

Can you renew if there is a hold on my registration?

Usually. We identify the hold from the record (smog, insurance, parking tickets, returned payment) and tell you exactly what clears it. Some holds clear the same day; some need you to act first, then we finish the renewal.

Is Xpress Registrations the DMV?

No. We are a private, licensed California DMV business partner. The same renewal is available directly from the DMV without our service fee; you are paying us to handle it fast and without a visit.
